Business Studies in the Philippines

One of the draws of the Philippines for international students is the low cost of living. While students are generally not allowed to work in the Philippines while on a student visa, they can often live on $350 to $500 a month for main living expenses. The friendly, diverse culture and the prime location in the Pacific are other factors that draw international students to studying in the Philippines.

The Philippines is known for its beautiful land, but this is not what draws students. Instead, it is the quality education they can receive. The Philippines has one of the best university systems in Asia, with over 2,200 universities and higher educational institutions throughout its islands. Some of these offer business studies.

Tuition in the Philippines is typically low. Students who pursue their business studies at a public school will pay around $1,000 a year for tuition. This increases to between $1,200 to $2,500 a year for private schools.

Most schools in the Philippines operate on a semester system, but the dates of the semesters are different than the dates commonly used by European and American universities. The first semester begins in June and runs until October, followed by a second semester from November through April. Students pursing a master's in business degree should plan to spend around two years in their business educational pursuits.

After graduating from a university in the Philippines with a master's degree in business, the students will find that they are in high demand. A master's degree from the Philippines also shows that the student is able to pursue studies in English, which can serve as a starting point for further educational programs English-speaking countries like Canada, the UK and the United States.

The capital city of the Philippines, Manila is located on the large island of Luzon. This bayside city is known for its amazing shopping district, but it also offers students a unique learning experience.

Manila is made up of a combination of skyscrapers and Spanish colonial architecture, which means anyone studying history or architecture can see parts of the past firsthand. Other benefits of studying here include an opportunity to visit San Agustin Church or Fort Santiago, soak up culture at one of the many museums, and participate in the celebrations of Manila Day. Students can use their time off to travel to one of the other islands that make up the Philippines or to further explore Luzon.
